I had to make Halloween cupcakes a while ago, and of course I chose to go with zombies! They were tons of fun to make and almost as delicious as brains! I made chocolate cupcakes to start with. I decorated them by icing them with chocolate icing, then rolling just the sides through a plate green sugar sprinkles, leaving a square of plain icing in the middle.

I then rolled the center of the cupcake through a plate of crushed chocolate graham crackers, making the cupcake look like a freshly dug grave. I then used oval shaped cookies, which I decorated with white icing, as tomb stones. For the zombies, I used vanilla and chocolate sticks for the arms and necks (pocky or pretzels would work too), and malt balls (malt balls come in several colors) with zombie faces drawn on them for the heads. I used about ΒΌ a stick of gum bent like a shovel attached to a vanilla stick with icing for shovels, which were laid sporadically around the graveyard. (After making the shovels, freeze the for a few minutes to make sure they stay glued together.) My favorite touch was using flower sprinkles around some of the gravestones.

For some reason, I have always wanted a zombie bathroom. I would put a read bath mat on the floor, a red toilet lid cover, some type of picture of a zombie on the wall, and a blood splattered shower curtain. I thought I was alone in this until ran across this one at a Halloween store the other day...

To be fair, most people probably only would want this for Halloween... I am off to buy a red bath mat.
Home from zombie prom, and I was named Zombie Prom Queen 2009! I am pretty excited because I didn.t expect it at all. My date was 1st runner up for king, and the guy who won king.s date was first runner up for queen, which was super fun. You had to volunteer to be considered, and I almost didn.t get up, because there were several girls who had been talking about it that night, so I didn.t think I would win. By the time my date made me go, so I was about 20 deep in line. My zombie awesomeness prevailed and I won. Elbow elbow, wrist wrist. I promise to all my zombies as your queen that I will try to provide lots of brains and will try to get rid of shotguns, so less of you will be shot in the head. I also think zombies can't find the U.S. on the map because zombies ... don't have maps.
Pictures will come soon!
I went to the Sidewalk Film festival recently and saw one of the best new zombie movies I have seen in a while.
Dead Snow. It asks the question, what is scarier than a zombie? The Norwegian filmmakers who made this movie suggest Nazi zombies? Yep, that will do it. The setting was in the middle of nowhere in the snow, where the blood splatter showed up brilliantly on glistening white. Even though the movie was lots of fun, it was more of a ghost story then a zombie movie. That doesn.t mean it wasn.t fabulous, though. It seems to be based loosely on an early 80.s movie called
Zombie Lake, but that cheesy B movie is a story for another day.

Finally got to see
Zombieland this weekend!!! Ever since I first saw the first
news story about Woody Harrelson freaking out on a cameraman because he mistook him for a zombie after staying in character from filming the movie, I have been excited.
All the Ghostbuster references were perfect, and the whole movie was wonderful. I haven.t enjoyed a movie so much in the theater in a while. I also know I need to get on the treadmill so I can make sure to stick to rule #1!

Please go watch it!!! Why do I want a twinkie so bad...
What can we say, we really like zombies; zombie movies, zombie toys, zombie culture, even clever zombie t-shirts. They are one of the scariest monsters that walk the earth, and one of the most interesting. They have evolved from entranced souls to animalistic, brain eating demons. Zombies are all over today.s media, and are engaging a whole new generation of zombie lovers. If we love them, there must be more people who love them as much, so we decided to share all the crazy zombie things we look up with all of you who love zombies!
