The Video Dead
It is October, which means Halloween is coming and it is time to start planning your costume for this year as well as start up the horror flicks! We have Netflix streaming, which is a pretty darned handy tool for catching a new movie you otherwise might not have run across. Looking through, we found one called The Video Dead, a 1987, very MTV generation B-movie about zombies with a movie poster that looked like Iron Maiden cover art. A possessed TV has zombies living inside, and when you turn it on, they can escape... so kind of like The Ring meets The Fog with zombies, bad acting, and curious make-up. They were obviously on a low budget, because some of the zombies looked great, and some of them looked like Flock of Seagulls had a run in with Crest toothpaste and the toothpaste won. The zombies sometimes acted very zombie-like, with the eating and the killing, but sometimes, they seemed to just wanted to play Gremlins like pranks, still resulting in death and gore.
Overall, if you are expecting the cheese and like a bloody B-movie, we think you should check this one out. It is a good time and could result in amazing Halloween fun if your friends sat around and watched the movie MST3000 style.
